Hello! My name is Fiona! I have a bachelors degree from Rutgers University - New Brunswick (where I graduated in May 2025!) where I majored in Biotechnology and double minored in Biochemistry and Italian, and an associates degree in Environmental Studies (2021) from Hudson County Community College. Currently, I am working as an analytical chemist for a pharmaceutical company, but I spent much of my time in school working on entomology-based research from a public health perspective (one such project of which was recently published in the Journal of Medical Entomology, linked on my Resume/CV page). I'm interested in exploring the intricacies of the connection between the environment and people, paired with a strong desire to help preserve our planet and improve quality of life around the world.
I've always been passionate about the sciences, especially in the disciplines where their relations shine, which lead me first to studying environmental science and them biotechnology. The conglomeration of physics, chemistry, and biology is at the basis of nearly every principle in these fields, and is what fascinates me the most. Long term, my eyes are set on a career in research, investigating these and other interactions as well as helping to solve the greater challenges we face.
I love solving problems, and rarely step down from the unique challenge each one presents. Certainly in the traditional sense of the word, I am often the go-to person when someone is in need advice or help, whether that be on how to solve derivatives or how to choose between commitments. It is not uncommon to find me mulling over a plot hole or excitedly pitching a theory to my friends or family about the last movie we watched or book I've read.
If I'm not contemplating the bigger picture, I'm probably enjoying one of my favorite pastimes. I'm an avid reader and daydreamer who sometimes indulges in writing, an amateur coder working on enhancing my skills, an aspiring polyglot (currently fluent in English and Albanian, and working on getting there with my Italian, French, and Spanish!) and am highly trained in preparation for a possible apocalypse (not quite, although I love fencing and archery, and achieved a green belt in mixed martial arts back in middle school).
